Everyone is god. You are, I am. We have the power to create inherent within us. You unlock your godliness when you consciously create in order to contribute to the greater good. Creating for yourself and others. There’s no need to outsource your power to an external force, when so much power is already in you.
If different people can see the same thing and come to different conclusions, then life is a matter of perspective. We play a part in creating our personal reality. If we have the power to shape our perspective and therefore our reality, why shouldn’t you see yourself as a god? Each of us has the capability of changing the world as we know it.
We have our confidence stripped by the lower vibrational energies present in life. Many societies teach people they are the most important thing in existence. But this hyper individuality juxtaposes the outside validation society says is part of an ideal life.
You’re supposed to have self confidence, but only if attached to what society venerates. This means money, fame, etc. When technology allows society to thrust visions of worldly success in your face constantly, you begin to think there must be some universal formula to succeeding. You just need to find it and follow it.
How can an individual be happy if they’re basing decisions on non individual thinking? Won’t this only result in them beating themselves up over their lack of ability? Supposedly all they need is a formula and things are supposed to work out how they envision.
Any issues are placed solely on the individual, because they’ve seen others succeed. Any failure must be the result of their incompetence, not the fact there are no guaranteed formulas for success.
Our world relies excessively on procedural thinking. People are taught what to think, rather than having confidence because they were taught how to think. This causes confusion and self loathing in people as they grow. Nothing they do is ever good enough. They are always chasing some ideal outside validation. Outside validation they have no control over the giving or receiving of.
People are taught to give their personal power to outside sources. This results from only feeling worthy of praise when you’ve secured success in other’s eyes. If your life plan hinges on definitions of success that aren’t not your own, you’ve given your power away.
In the context of religion, the idea an outside source controls the ins and outs of existence doesn’t make sense to me. 1) If an all knowing and wise powerful force was in control, how did shit get so evil? 2) Why would humans be gifted the power of choice in the first place?
People will attribute all good things to their higher power, and then place all follies at the hands of humanity. Or whatever demon their religion uses as a representation of evil. I don’t agree.
I think we should keep it consistent and attribute everything in this world to a higher power. The good and the bad. Especially in light of good and bad being a relative truth. A truth subject to different interpretations from person to person, culture to culture, community to community.
There are good things we can’t explain, and bad things we can’t explain. Life doesn’t follow our desires for everything to make sense. How can we make sense of something so much greater than our individual existence? There’s so much context and information we aren’t aware of. Wouldn’t the smartest route be to stop wasting energy attempting to explain?
I believe in a higher power, but think it takes more of a hands off approach. An individual can ask for and receive guidance in transcending this world’s evils from this higher power. It will send signs and lessons for us to heed. But we must become consciously aware of our mind states and how we create our own personal realities, otherwise we are not able to see the higher power’s guidance for what it is. It takes the awakening and realization of a higher power in us and in everyone/everything around us, to tap into our personal power and start making conscious decisions.
The thing is, you can make conscious decisions in pursuit of unconscious goals determined by society. For example, you’ve made the plan of becoming a doctor. On the surface, this looks like a great decision and you discipline yourself in order to achieve this goal. But if you looked deep inside, you’d realize you wanted to be a high school health teacher and have resolved to become a doctor for monetary reasons or the wishes of your parents.
You can control yourself in order to advance in the eyes of the world. But these conscious decisions based on unconscious goals implanted by society, will inevitably do harm to yourself and therefore, others.
We should not judge, because life makes no mistakes, but that doesn’t mean there is no such thing as right or wrong. These words and concepts have been perverted by the toxic individuality and win at all costs mentality capitalism has infected the world with. The world becomes a constant state of confusion due to these perversions. Repeated cycles of oppression keep people at a lower level of understanding.
If your knowledge base is founded on a crooked definition, whatever you build will be crooked as well. You may do a terrific job of compensating for your foundation’s weakness, but there is no way you will reach the heights available to you. Society’s crooked definitions of right and wrong cause us to eventually topple over. Sudden realizations of wasted time chasing these crooked ideals frequently surface when people approach death.
They wish they hadn’t worked so hard. They wish they spent more time with family and friends, hadn’t been so worried about their appearance to others and had chased more dreams. Of course our lives can’t be perfect and we will question some of our decisions, hindsight being 20/20 after all.
However, who wants to reach the end with so many regrets? Most based on chasing society’s definition of success? I don’t wish this on anyone. But during the thick of our lives, childhood and adulthood, we wish this on ourselves. Its time to redefine right and wrong, to take away the power our mistaken society has over us.
Right is attached to making money, gaining power or having the choice to destroy your bodymind. I use the term bodymind because they are too intimately connected to separate. Wrong is anything you don’t like, even if good for you. These definitions of right and wrong have led to the state of spiritual neglect seen today.
Only when we truly understand the concepts of “right” and “wrong” and make it the foundation of our decision making, can we begin to pull ourselves out of the mess the world has created inside us. The quagmire we drown in and suffer from.
In my eyes, (eyes opened by Thich Nhat Hanh) “right” means straight and beneficial, “wrong’’ means crooked and unbeneficial. More context must be provided, lest we see the words “beneficial” and “unbeneficial” manipulated by the selfish ways of the world.
The world would say beneficial means decisions that help secure my own selfish desires and fulfill my cravings, whether it be money, sex, power, etc. Whereas unbeneficial is anything that keeps me from fulfilling my desires or makes me uncomfortable. These definitions are entirely self focused and inherently wrong.
The mindless pursuit of outside validation in order to replace true self confidence is a recipe for disaster. A disaster that will always have you chasing the happiness we all deserve ,rather than knowing the opportunity for happiness exists in the present moment.
The mindless pursuit of avoiding uncomfortable situations will stunt your growth. You will be unable to accept life’s ups and downs, and you will dread life’s only constant, which is change. Instead you could embrace and accept life’s randomness, so you can appreciate it while still on the physical plane.
People engage in religions that cause them to blame themselves for their sorry state of existence. They think they are doing something wrong, or they aren’t holy enough and have angered the higher power. The higher power loves unconditionally, that’s why it’s not of this world. It’s the evil choices of man keeping most people oppressed and in poor circumstances.
Even the rich are prisoners of their mindless pursuits and will fall victim to mental health challenges due to the perverted and debilitating mindset of modern man. Possibly all men throughout history. Because the Buddha’s teachings of not mindlessly pursuing worldly desires were applicable in the past and remain relevant today. There must have been a similar mindset in his time. The problems of man seem to be universal and persist across time. It’s just that technology has made things different for us today.
Have we become reliant on technology to the point where we are disconnected from the higher powers we used to be in tune to? Were we in better control of our body and mind? Were we anxious about things that actually present immediate danger, rather than stressing out over whether we missed an email or not?
We must reshape our values and redefine the concepts of “right” and “wrong” so we have a guide for decision making in this evil world. This means correcting the mistaken ideas of what makes a decision “beneficial” or “unbeneficial”. We must realize we are all individuals but also we are all part of the collective consciousness on Earth which means we are all one.
Until we see our fellow humans, animals, and natural environments as something worthy of our love and respect, we will never escape the lower plane of existence we currently inhabit on Earth.
In order to make the “right” decision, aka the most straight and beneficial, we must take the straight path, aka the shortest, simplest way to making choices that not only benefit us, but also benefit the collective consciousness. If we are all connected, then a decision that hurts your fellow human, animal, or nature is wrong and should be avoided. This redefining of intelligent decision making could radically change the world we live in.
"The mindless pursuit of outside validation in order to replace true self confidence is a recipe for disaster. A disaster that will always have you chasing the happiness we all deserve ,rather than knowing the opportunity for happiness exists in the present moment." - This. I'm learning this everyday, reminding myself that confidence comes from within.
I've come to accept that confidence is something I'm always co-creating with the Universe, and it is not an end state that i need to "achieve". When I think this, I feel like it gives myself grace to be happy with where I am - and eager for what's to come :)
