I really could not agree more with all of this. My kids are growing up in a connected world where there is internet everywhere, wifi at all the shops, screens at the bowling alley, streaming shows, phones and tablets in every hand. It's amazing and terrible all at the same time.
But even with those distractions, they just rode their bikes in the neighborhood (in the rain) for an hour. So maybe they'll still play and get dirty like I did at their age.
It will take a more conscious approach to life to navigate all this powerful technology no doubt. I'm hoping the kids benefit from the increased technology and not suffer from it, by having a balanced relationship with it. We're really in the first generation of phones and their effects, I'm hoping we're learning the lessons and teaching them to the next generation about how beautiful the world is when you experience it first hand vs through a screen. And then you can appreciate the screen more because you're not addicted to it, but choosing to use it and have a healthy relationship with it. I'm definitely working on it myself 😂 I'm getting a lot better.
