The hard ways of this world weโve created, has hardened our hearts. To return the world to balance, we must soften them.
Our hearts need to be more flexible, more able to transform the energy of suffering into insight. Many of our hearts are hard and brittle. They inevitably break when faced with the hard ways of the world. Only through the soft, powerful energy of acceptance can we begin to transform the hard, powerful energy of suffering into understanding.
It is time to stop fighting fire with fire, and let the unending, all accepting ocean of higher consciousness, wash the world. Allow it to eliminate the fires of suffering. The individual fires engulfing communities, and the communal fires engulfing individuals. It doesnโt matter which direction the fire spreads, destruction descends regardless. Our world is being destroyed by the fires of suffering raging inside of us as individuals, as communities, and as a human race. A human race thatโs a part of nature, even with the emphasis on the wrong understanding of being apart from nature.
Our world is based on energy. The universal laws of energy apply to many concepts. We can see parallels between specific examples and the overall nature of the conflicts humanity finds itself embroiled in.
I enjoy the example of martial arts, probably because Iโve mentally tied it with Buddhism. I was introduced to many Zen concepts through my love of Japanese anime. Zen Buddhism ties nicely with the powerful philosophy of Taoism. Both schools of thought are intertwined by the mixing of cultures in Asia. My study of Bruce Lee and his life perspectives, deepened my gratitude for these philosophies.
Martial Arts works nicely because its concept of using your opponents force against them. You flip the script by being soft and accepting of your opponents actions to minimize damage. Then you end the fight as quickly as possible, while expending as little energy as possible.
Fighting force with force is only an option if you are more powerful and probably still isnโt the smartest option. The fight might drag on while you hammer away at each other and youโll sustain significant damage even if you eventually win.
The acceptance of seemingly opposing force, can actually be the reason for our success. We see this in fights and on the path to liberation. Suffering is a holy truth because it can guide you towards personal freedom. This suffering seems to work against us but when accepted and faced, becomes the light out of darkness. The darkness of living a life of unconscious behavior. A life of constant habitual reaction, uninformed by the light of conscious awareness which fuels conscious choice.
Only by accepting what's wrong, can we begin to focus our energy on finding solutions. We arenโt only dealing with change, weโre creating change. Weโre not denying change, wishing for things to stay the same so we can remain narrow minded and in our comfort zone.
Ah, the comfort zone. My baby brother was into Aikido, Buddhism, the Tao and he died at 31 from a YMCA Ropes Course called Going Beyond your Comfort Zone. He had a 2.5 year old daughter and a 30 day baby girl as well at home in 1993.
